Oliver Pledges Hoosiers

After maneuvering through the recruiting process Hamilton (Ohio) linebacker Marcus Oliver has found a home. We get the latest on Oliver's decision to pledge to Indiana.

After looking over the programs that offered a scholarship Marcus Oliver issued a verbal pledge to Indiana head coach Kevin Wilson.

"Indiana is a program on the rise for sure," said Oliver. "I really wanted to stay close to home and be a hometown hero to play for Cincinnati, but I really couldn't do it. Indiana is just a wonderful place and the campus is probably the best campus I've seen with a hometown atmosphere.

"The coaches are great and care about their players and I feel they are about to get things turned around and are just a few plays away from being a great team."

Oliver made sure to check out the Hoosiers program on several occasions over the past several months.

"I visited Indiana six times," said Oliver. "Their facilities are just the best as their weight room and training rooms are some of the best I've seen. I also like their locker room and the stadium."

The Hoosiers coaching staff used a team effort to secure Oliver's pledge.

"Coach (Greg) Frey started out as my main recruiting," explained Oliver. "Then Coach (Mike) Ekeler took over. I called Coach Wilson to make my commitment and he was extremely happy. They wanted me to commit but didn't want to put pressure on me.

They felt I was going to commit but they just didn't know when. But they were hoping it was soon. From the first time I stepped on the IU campus it was my favorite school."
