Brookhaven breezes by Akron St. Vincent/St. Mary

During the 2003-2004 season, a LeBron-less ASVSM has saw others step up and carry them. But coming up against one of the states other top teams brings the Irish down a step.

Jamelle Cornley laid claim to this victory with an impressive 18 point first half domination of the Bron-less Irish. At the half, Brookhaven led 39-29. While Cornley’s domination only amounted to three points in the third quarter and it seemed as if St. V’s would rally after a couple of MONSTER dunks by sophomore Marcus Johnson, Brookhaven would lead by 13 at the end of three. St. V’s was game and continued to bring it, but Brookhaven on the broad shoulders of game MVP Jamelle Cornley was just too much. It was more of the same in the games final quarter as Brookhaven won 70-56. St. V’s was led by game MVP Marcus Johnson’s 13 points and 10 boards and Lawrence Wilson’s 13 points.
