CJ won this close battle from the leadership of their three
seniors: Ryan Patrick, Jo-Jo Smith, and Anthony Turner. CJ won the game 57-50.
Patrick purely displayed why he is one of the states best
pure point guards. Patrick's dominance of ball control, hitting his pull up
jumpers and penetrating at will against Alter's man to man defense and their
zone was too much for Alter to handle.
Smith's defense was impressive and Turners cool demeanor on
the court and his fluid shots were devastating. CJ hit 7 three pointers and the
seniors hit 6 of them. Smith came into the game midway thru the 1st qtr. and hit
back-to-back 3's that gave CJ momentum. Patrick scored a team high 22
points and junior Derrick Brown hit 11 points.
Alter would not go away easily as Kevin Riazzi had 12 second
half points and finished the game with 16 points and Zach Freshwater connected
for 10 points. CJ has the No. 1 ranking in the Dayton Daily News
rankings and is in 1st place in the GCL North with a 7-3 record while Alter
is 2nd in the GCL North at 3-7.
