While many people around the state talk about the GCL as being Ohio's top
conference, many in Western Ohio will tell you the MAC is the conference of
champions. How can you say otherwise, this small school conference has produced
many champions over the years. Almost every school in the conference can lay
claim to a championship, while in just the past 4 seasons titles have been won
in Track, Football, Cross Country, Baseball and both Girls and Boys
basketball. Plus you will have 3 Boy's teams fight for a title next weekend.
Well you can give the MAC a three-peat in Girls Basketball with Minster's 44
- 33 victory over Mansfield St. Peter's in the Division IV Girls State
Championship game. Minster would take an early lead and never look back.
Paula Bartlett would lead St. Peter's with 12 points and 5 boards, followed
by Diana Reindl with 8 points. Shooting 26.2% for the game would not be enough
to beat 25-2 Minster.
While only shooting 39.4% for the game, Minster saw Robyn Hoying take charge
to score 16 points and haul in 9 rebounds in a MVP performance.
The championship is just another sign that Western Ohio is home to many great
athletes and teams.
