Well its time to look and see how the Final AP Poll and the tournament games
have faired. Today we look at Division One and Final Four.
DIVISION I
None of the top 4 teams in the final AP poll will head for Columbus. #5
Columbus Brookhaven, #8 Hamilton and #9 Canton McKinley along with non-ranked
Toledo St. Johns will fight for the title this weekend in Columbus. Who is
playing the best ball right now? All four teams are looking ready to win a
title. The match-up for the games are as followed.
TOLEDO ST. JOHN'S (22-4) VS. COLUMBUS BROOKHAVEN (25-2)
This should be a great game, Brookhaven lost two key players from the past
two teams and haven't missed a beat. By beating Moeller, Brookhaven puts
themselves into position for another title. St. John's has a three headed
monster and comes into the game an underdog. In what should be a close game,
don't be surprised if St. John's is up to the task. The key match-up is the play
of two of Ohio's top juniors. This should be a championship game. Advantage:
Brookhaven

CANTON McKINLEY ( 22-3 ) VS. HAMILTON ( 23 - 2 )
Take your pick and you could be right on this game. Both teams are playing
great basketball. McKinley sat around the top early in the year, only to see
their ranking fall to #9 by the end. Since the end of the regular season,
McKinley has been on a mission. Hamilton while sitting with a #8 ranking is the
underdog. No one felt The Big Blue would get past teams like Springfield South,
Troy and LaSalle. They did, and have been on a role. I really like Hamilton in
this game and feel they will reach the final. While the Big Blue hasn't made a
trip to Columbus sine 1954, this team has a slight height advantage. Keep
an eye on the guard play, while Huff has been playing very well, Hall is the
leader for McKinley. This should be a great game, but will be overshadowed
by St. John's and Brookhaven. Advantage: EVEN
