OFFICAL PRESS RELEASE

After its first two years, Flyin To The Hoop National Basketball Tournament has cracked into the NBA.  JR Smith, a 2003 all tournament team selection, was selected 18th overall in the first round by the New Orleans Hornets. His selection marks the first Flyin To The Hoop alumni to be selected to the NBA.  Smith, who played for St. Benedict's Prep in New Jersey, was ranked the 11th best high school player in the nation last year according to Insidershoops.  Eight high school players were taken in the 2004 NBA draft including top overall pick Dwight Howard.

Flyin To The Hoop has quickly established itself as one of the nation's top prep tournament events by attracting some of the top overall prep talent from around the country.  In addition to players like Smith, 48 other athletes who have competed at the event have gone on to play Division I
college basketball including players like Josh Boone (Connecticut), Alex Galindo (Kansas), Rudy Gay (Connecticut), Seth Gorney (Iowa), Van Wafer (Florida State), and two time tournament MVP Juan Palacios (Louisville).

The tournament is held every January over Martin Luther King weekend in Vandalia, Ohio.  The 2005 event will be held January 15th - 17th and will include another field of future NCAA and NBA stars.  For more information on the event visit www.flyintothehoop.com or call 937-704-9670 ext.130.
