Mark Dorris scored 19 points to lead his Princeton Vikings to an exciting
62-52 victory over B.J. Raymond and Toledo St. John’s today at the Play-by-Play
Scholastic tournament here at the Value City Arena on the campus of Ohio State.
Raymond led St. John with 20 points and Brian Roberts scored 17 for St. John’s
who is still playing without injured star Zach Hillesland. Princeton’s Jurrell
Williams and Ross Morin added 11 and 10 respectively for the Vikings. The game
was coming out party for Princeton senior Jairahn Harrington who scored 10
points and grabbed 10 boards. The game was nip and tuck for the entire contest,
and entering the fourth quarter St. Johns held on to a two-point lead at 38-36.
During a three-minute stretch in the fourth quarter Dorris and junior Jamar
Nelson scored nine straight points to give Princeton the lead for good. The
Vikings outscored St. John’s 26-14 in the games final eight minutes. Despite a
couple of deep threes from Brian Roberts, the Vikings were able to covert free
throws down the stretch and defeat the states number two team. Dorris and
Raymond were named game MVP’s.
In earlier games at Value City, Centerville beat Newark 40-29 and Springfield
South beat Dublin Scioto65-56. What a great start to the Play-by-Play
Tournament!!!
