Wow, what a day at the Scholastic Network Play-by-Play Ohio event here in Value City Arena on the campus of the Ohio State University.

Tournament Director Jeremy Treatman runs what might be the best high school basketball tournaments in the country and Ohio is blessed to be one of the recipients of his many events.  Although attendance was down in this the first of the post-Lebron era, the excitement was as if the King was in the house.  Talking about good teams: Toledo St. John’s, Princeton, Brookhaven, Troy,  Akron St. Vincent/St. Mary (ASVSM), Canton McKinley, and Springfield South would all have to be considered top 20 teams in the state and all in one place on one day- WOW!

OPS Best Performances of the day:

Best game: Easy- Chaminade Julienne’s double overtime victory over Troy was better than most college games played in this arena!

Best player (MVP): Jamelle Cornley- pure dominance reflected in his 25 point 10 rebound effort!  I know he’s short, but he’s so damn good!

Top Five (All-Event): Isaiah Carson (Springfield South), Mark Dorris (Princeton), B.J. Raymond (Toledo St. John), Derrick Brown (Chaminade-Julienne), Michael Hall (Troy)

Best Rebounder:  (15) Nate Miller (Springfield South)

Most points:  (26) tie Derrick Brown, Ryan Patrick (both of Chaminade Julienne)

Best underclassman: Raymar Morgan (Soph., Canton McKinley)

Double-Doubles: Cornley, Ben Raymond 20 pts 11 boards, Markis Carey (Troy) 18 pts 10 boards, Nate Miller 16 pts 15 boards, Marcus Johnson (ASVSM), 13 pts 10 boards, Jairahn Harrington (Princeton) 10 pts 10 boards, Keith Kohls (Centerville) 10 pts 10 boards

Best players not mentioned above: Chris Solomon (Dublin Scioto), Brian Roberts (Toledo St. John), Stan Hall (Canton McKinley), Anthony Turner (Chaminade Julienne), Matt Terwilliger (Troy), Lawrence Wilson (ASVSM), Mike Wakefield (Brookhaven)

Special Note: OPS would like to give a special thanks to our student assistant for this event John Bade, junior shooter at Indian Hills High School.
